Re: Using a 48V battery pack with 36V motor/controller
What happens if you put 48V to a 36V motor?
It won't hurt it to try it. All the will happen is that the controller will shut down earlier if the cut off voltage is set for the 48v which might be right at 42v which would be peak on the 36v.
Can I use a 36V motor with a 48V controller?
Re: 36v motor with 48v controller
YES!
Can a 36V controller handle 48V?
Re: Will a 36 volt controller handle a 48 volt battery? Probably already stated and answered but a 36v controller will work on a 48v battery, its just the controller wont kick in for lvc.
Can I use a 48V controller with a 36V battery?
If the controller is 48v and has a low voltage cutout too high for a 36v battery, then you must do something to bypass the cutout. Some 36v controllers work fine on 48v. This would solve your problem. Otherwise you would need to figure out which part of the controller circuit does the low voltage cutout and modify it.

Re: 48V motor and 36V battery
Doesn't matter what motor you pick, just create an A setup at 48v and a B setup with all the same stuff except at 36v and compare the curves. Thanks Amberwolf, for the confirmation that it will work and I am not too crazy..
Can I charge a 36 volt battery with a 48 volt charger?
No!!! The voltage of the charger must be matched to the voltage of the battery system being charged. A 48 volt charger would see your 36 volt battery system as a very under-charged battery (not being 48 volts) and the net effect would be to damage your batteries attempting to bring them up to 48 volts.
Can a 250w motor run on 48V?
A 52v battery powering through a 48v controller to run a 250w motor will probably do fine if the motor is producing 250w or less. Like stated above, the motor probably has plastic gears that are made for a load of 250 watts or less.
Can I use a 36V controller with a 24V motor?
Re: Running 24v & 36v on the same controller
You can use a controller rated for 36V on a 24V system, but you need to make sure it doesn't have an LVC or that it is already set low enough for your 24V pack (or you have to alter or defeat it, and then use something else to monitor your pack for LVC).
Can you put 48V batteries in a 36V golf cart?
A 36V charger will never fully charge a 48V battery bank regardless of how much time you allow. This is a large expense that many people often overlook. The voltage must match your battery bank exactly, although the charger amperage can vary.
What's the difference between 36V and 48V?
Battery Volts
A 36V e-bike battery will allow you to draw a lesser critical current, typically around 15 amperes whereas, a 48V e-bike battery will allow more current in the range of 10 – 40 amperes. It means you can go faster with a 48V E-bike battery.
How long does a 36 volt ebike battery last?
You should typically expect a battery to last between 3 and 5 years if it is well maintained. (A lithium battery will slowly lose its capacity over time, even if it's not used.) Below are three things you can do to ensure you get the longest usage out of your electric bike battery.
Will a 36V motor run on 24V?
Running a 36V motor on 24V will work, but you'll lose considerable power and efficiency.
Can I use a 24V battery on a 36V motor?
Your 36V wheel would not even START to spin with a 24V power source and controller attached, even though the microcontroller would be very much alive. The way this is accomplished isn't sublte.
Can a 24V motor run on 36V battery?
don't worry about using the 36V lead with a 24V motor since the lead will be at 28-30V all the time you are using it anyway. using a 36V lifepo4 pack continuously will overheat these motors from what dogman says.
Can I use a 1000w controller on a 250w motor?
dogman dan wrote: all you should need to do, is use speed 2, on the three speed switch. You can use the full power occasionally, but keep the time you use it relatively short, like less than 20 min, and avoid the temptation to use it on really long, really steep hills.
How long will 48V 20ah battery last?
So a 48v 20ah battery has 960 watt hours (48 * 20 = 960). A bike going roughly 25mph unassisted will use roughly 20-25wh/mile. So if you get 20wh/mile, the bike will go 48 miles pr charge. If it gets 25wh/mile it will go 38 miles pr charge.
Can I use 48V battery with 24V motor?
Re: Advice: 24V controller with 48V battery
Its a 24-48v controller. As is,, it may well run fine on 48v, but have a very low setting on it's low voltage cutoff. As long as you are not relying on that cutoff in place of a bms on the battery,, I'd just run it as is. Unless the programming does have an HVC.
Can you use a 42 volt charger on a 36 volt battery?
For example, for a 36V 9 Ah lithium ion battery, it is recommend to choose a 42V charger with maximum output current 3 Amps or less. Using smaller charging current to charge a lithium ion battery will take longer charging time, but it will be better for battery.
Can you charge a 36 V golf cart with a 48 V charger?
Step 1: Identify Your Golf Cart's Voltage
The charger you buy needs to match the voltage of your golf cart (to avoid unnecessary damage to your batteries): 36-volt golf carts require a 36-volt charger. 48-volt golf carts require a 48-volt charger.
How long does it take to charge a 36V golf cart?
Charge your batteries for 8 to 10 hours with the proper style of golf cart battery charger. The best practice is to charge overnight after you are done using your cart for the day. Even if you only used the cart for 5 minutes, you'll want to give the golf cart batteries a good charge.
Can I charge my eBike from an inverter?
Can I Charge My Ebike With An Inverter? As a whole, you can charge an eBike with an inverter by plugging the inverter into a car, wall outlet, solar panel, or another electrical setup. Hook the eBike's battery into the inverter, ensuring it's capable of 1000W to power the vast majority of bike batteries.
How long does it take to charge 48V electric bike?
A lithium ion ebike battery that is fully depleted will take 3.5 to 6 hours to recharge. Batteries that still have a partial charge when you start charging will take less. In addition, the last hour or so of a charge is used to "top-off" the cells, and you don't have to wait for that process to be completed.
How many amps does a 36 volt trolling motor pull?
A 112# thrust 36 volt would use approximately 38 amps at full speed, 20 at half speed.
Can you run a 36V motor on 12V?
If you are talking DC motor then putting 12V into a 36V motor just makes it go slow with less torque. No harm done, unless having less torque means that the motor sits there stalled because it hasn't enough power to turn it's load yet there may be enough current flowing to overheat one armature winding.
