Yaktrax Walk and Pro are easy to put on for quick tasks. We use them to clear the drive or walk to the mailbox. They are good for walking on our lake when it is slushy wet snow over ice, which is more common for us than hard clear ice.
Does Yaktrax work in the snow?
Despite their diminutive design, the Yaktrax Pro provide amazing traction on snow and packed snow and some additional traction on ice. They are also fine on cobblestone and pavement, even if they have a slightly cushy feel to them.
How do you take care of Yaktrax?
We recommend just rinsing them in clean water and patting dry with a towel at least after every couple of uses. One reason to clean and dry often is that in many areas they salt the roads and sidewalks which if not cleaned off can be corrosive towards the Yaktrax over time.

Properly cleaning and storing your Yaktrax helps extend the life of your products. After each use, we recommend you rinse with clean water, pat dry with a clean towel, and hang them up until your next use.
Can I wear Yaktrax on pavement?
They work best on hard-packed snow and ice. I run on streets that get good amounts of salt, so after a day or so there's usually enough clear pavement to discontinue their use. But for those first couple of days after a good snow, they're fantastic.

Are yak tracks the same as Microspikes?
Just looking at the two products side-by-side, you can tell that Microspikes will be grippier than Yaktrax. The 9.55mm spikes “bite” the solid ice better than Yaktrax 1.2mm steel coils. Microspikes are also made of stainless steel, which is stronger than the steel alloy used in Yaktrax.
How should Microspikes fit?
Microspikes fit over both my hiking boots and my running shoes. When you're sizing your own pair, they should be as snug as possible around your shoes. If you can, try them on in person if you can and make sure they fit all the pairs of shoes you want to put them over.
